Kenner’s Starting Lineup was a line of NBA action figures sold in toy stores, not a pack-based trading-card product. Each figure came sealed in a display box, and packed inside — visible through the window — was a collector card of the same player; the 1991 Jordan release also included a special-edition collector coin. To own the card, a buyer had to purchase the toy; there were no wax packs and no cases, so the cards entered the hobby as a byproduct of the action-figure run rather than as cards in their own right.
This is the 1991 ‘Jumping’ card, picturing Jordan rising to finish over a defender, with an inset close-up and the Chicago Bulls logo on a yellow border. The back carries his full NBA regular-season statistics through the 1990–91 All-Star break, a facsimile signature, and a © 1991 NBA / Kenner line noting it was printed in Hong Kong. Because the cards were packaged with a toy rather than protected in packs — pressed against the figure’s plastic tray and handled by children — clean, well-centered copies are genuinely scarce, and gem-mint survivors scarcer still. PSA has graded 481 copies across all grades, and only 14 have received a PSA 10, a gem rate of 2.89 percent.
