NBA Hoops holds a special place in basketball cards: launched for the 1989–90 season, it was one of the first dedicated, fully NBA-licensed basketball sets of the modern era, and it remained a hobby staple through the 1990s. By the middle of the decade the brand was published by SkyBox International, which brought a more design-forward, insert-heavy approach to the product. This card is the Top Ten ‘All-Time Rookie Team’ insert from 1995–96 Hoops — a ten-card set (#AR1–AR10) honoring the greatest rookie performers in league history, with Jordan as #AR7 alongside names like Shaquille O’Neal and Jason Kidd.
The design is pure mid-90s SkyBox: a marbled magenta-and-teal background, a large die-cut ‘10’ worked into the top of the card, the ‘NBA Hoops All-Time Rookie Team’ banner in gold, and Jordan’s name in vertical script. The back recalls that Jordan made the All-Rookie First Team and the All-NBA Second Team in his 1984–85 debut. This was never a rare card — it was a readily pulled insert in its day — but it is a genuinely beautiful one, and it grades well relative to many of its contemporaries: of 1,844 copies PSA has graded, 129 have earned a PSA 10, a healthy 6.99 percent gem rate. Its appeal is in the design and the steadily climbing demand rather than scarcity.
