Hold this one to the light and the whole thing comes alive: a die-cut top edge, etched silver holofoil that shifts as you tilt it, and a background of orbiting atoms — a literal ‘star power’ science motif with Jordan rising for a finger-roll through the middle of it. Star Power Plus is the die-cut, holofoil parallel of the base Star Power insert in 1997–98 Fleer Ultra Series 2; where the base card is flat, the Plus version adds the cut top and the etched-foil highlights, and it was the harder pull of the two, dropped into Series 2 packs at roughly one in thirty-six. Jordan is #1 in the twenty-card set, with backs carrying the ‘SPP’ suffix — this slab reads 1 of 20 SPP.
The back leans into his mid-career mythology, joking that with his place in history secure he might as well take seventeen months off to play baseball, return, and conquer the sport again, before nodding to the record 72-win 1995–96 season and back-to-back titles. The holofoil surface and the exposed die-cut edge are exactly what make a clean copy scarce: foil shows print lines and the cut points chip. Of 489 graded by PSA across all grades, only 39 have reached PSA 10, a 7.98 percent gem rate.
