Legacies is one of those inserts that has to be seen in person — the shine on it is genuinely stunning, and scans never come close to capturing it. It comes from 1998–99 Topps Series 2 as card L15 of a 15-card insert set honoring the league’s biggest superstars, inserted hobby-only at about one in every 36 packs (the card backs carry the tell-tale ‘L’ prefix). The front pairs a full-length action shot of Jordan rising for a jumper in the red Bulls road uniform with a shimmering, holographic foil background and ‘Legacies’ written across the top in gold script.

Collectors routinely describe it as ‘refractor-like’ for the way it throws light, even though it is a Legacies foil insert rather than a Chrome refractor parallel. The back leans into the theme with a ‘Style / Substance’ writeup — calling Jordan history’s greatest per-game scorer and noting his five MVPs, six titles and six Finals MVPs. As a foil card it is condition-sensitive, and gem mint copies are not easy: of 613 graded across all grades, 43 are PSA 10, a 7.01 percent gem rate.
