Every collection tells a story. The DimeLabs Type 1 collection begins in August 1984 — Michael Jordan at the Olympics, a college junior who had not yet played a professional game. It ends here, on June 12, 1991, in a locker room soaked in champagne, surrounded by teammates and a coach who had all just won for the first time.
Phil Jackson. B.J. Armstrong. Scottie Pippen. Jordan at the center of it all, his #23 jersey drenched, the name on the back still legible through the champagne. This photograph was taken by Charles Cherney — who also photographed Jordan's 36-point performance on November 6, 1990, the third game of this championship season. Cherney was there at the beginning of the season. He was there at the end.
There is no card that captures this. No licensed product that puts you inside that locker room. A Type 1 photograph does. This print — original, authenticated, one of one — is the actual physical artifact from the actual moment. Charles Cherney stood in that locker room on June 12, 1991, pressed the shutter, and this is what came out.
