This is a true oddball: a Chicago Bulls promotional card from 1989–90 sponsored not by a card company but by Equal, the tabletop sweetener brand owned by NutraSweet. Regional issues like this one sat well outside the mainstream hobby — they were sponsor giveaways tied to the Bulls rather than products sold in wax packs at the card shop, which is why they were printed in small numbers and rarely survived in clean condition. The card itself stands apart from a standard issue in two ways. First, the format: it is noticeably taller than a typical trading card, closer to a photo or postcard in proportion, which makes well-preserved corners and edges harder to come by. Second, the image — a full-bleed arena action shot of Jordan elevating to finish at the rim over a defender, with ‘23 · Michael Jordan · 6-6, Guard’ and the Equal Sweetener / NutraSweet logos running along a white strip at the bottom. The reverse is intentionally blank apart from a small footnote noting that Equal and NutraSweet are registered trademarks of The NutraSweet Company — a tell that this was a marketing piece, not a catalogued set card. PSA has graded only 135 copies across all grades, with 17 reaching PSA 10.
