Carl V. Sissac is the photographer who appears more than any other in the DimeLabs Type 1 archive, and this frame shows why his work anchors the collection: a clean, perfectly-timed shooting image of a young Michael Jordan in the white Bulls home #23, captured at full extension with the ball still in flight. The defender contesting the shot is Alton Lister, the seven-foot center identified by name in the photographer’s own handwriting on the back.
What elevates this print is the back. Sissac’s purple “ALL RIGHTS RESERVED” copyright stamp — complete with his Chicago phone number — sits alongside a pencil caption reading “Rookie of Year – 85’,” a contemporaneous reference to Jordan’s 1984–85 Rookie of the Year campaign. That combination of a photographer’s stamp and a period caption is the signature of a genuine first-generation press print, and PSA has certified it Type I Authentic, noting the original Air Jordan I directly on the label.
